Indiana University Health is providing the IU Health Strong Schools grant opportunity for the 2016-2017 school year. IU Health realizes the link between physical activity and improved academic success and is committed to improving health and support opportunities for more physical activity in elementary schools and communities. Elementary schools will be awarded funds that will range from $1,500 – $3,000.
Schools must be located in an Indiana county where an IU Health Hospital is located (Blackford, Delaware, Hamilton, Hendricks, Lawrence, Marion, Monroe, Orange, Tipton, Tippecanoe, or White County). Districts interested in submitting applications for multiple schools must complete individual applications for each school. School grants must focus on increasing the minutes of daily physical activity that students receive and could include equipment for recess or play-spaces, curriculum for brain boosters or physical education classes, funding to support an intramural program, or a before/after- school programs that increase minutes of physical activity. Applications are due May 6.
