CATCH'em Quick Activities
CATCH’em Quick Activities are short activities, 5-9 minutes in duration, requiring little or no equipment. Cardiovascular Efficiency is the primary fitness focus. They are designed to facilitate “instant activity” and a quick instructional transition following the lesson’s warm-up activity. Animal Action Task Cards are located at the end of the section.
Introduction & Objectives
Rum Pum Pum - #53
Students change their movements depending on drum beat signals.
Heart Healthy Hiking - #54
Students "hike" and "swim" around an imaginary forest and lake.
Squirm, Wiggle, Jiggle - #56
Students use their imagination to interpret and perform various action phrases.
Automobile - #57
Students perform various movements as they use hoops to pretend they are in cars.
Count Down - #59
Students will jog and touch the polyspots with musical cues.
Shaping Up - #60
Students walk around the perimeter of the rectangle in the same direction and alternate their locomotor movements.
Fancy Feet - #62
Students travel using the movement indicated on their footprint card, occassionally swapping them with other students.
Musical Hoops - #65
A version of the game "Musical Chairs" using plastic hoops.
