David is the director of UC CalFresh, the SNAP Ed Program at the University of California. Mr. Ginsburg is nationally involved in SNAP Ed leadership, formally serving on the Land Grant University SNAP Ed Program Development Team and as a past chair for the Association of SNAP Ed Nutrition Networks and Other Implementing Agencies. He has over 30 years of working in public health issues affecting individuals and communities. Prior to his work with the University, he had 19 years with the California Department of Public Health/Health Services. There he worked in a number of programs including serving as the assistant chief of the Network for a Health California. While at the Network, he oversaw the local programs, media and communications, training and conferences, and regional operations. Previously Mr. Ginsburg was the chief of the health education section of the Office of Family Planning. There he coordinated the Partnership for Responsible Parenting – Pregnancy Prevention Media Campaign and the male involvement and information and education community intervention projects. Prior to that, he served as the Chief of the Breast and Cervical Cancer Control Program and in the startup of California’s successful tobacco control programs. Mr. Ginsburg has provided leadership, and worked with many staff in the development and implementation of important public health initiatives. His other professional positions and activities included: Executive Director of the American Cancer Society and Health Education Specialist with Migrant Education.
