The CATCH Global Foundation is delighted to be selected as one of 10 recipients of the inaugural St. David’s Foundation Opportunity Grant, an initiative aimed at collaborative, creative new approaches to addressing a wide range of health needs across Central Texas. Our project, “Building a Youth E-cigarette Prevention Community of Excellence in Central Texas” will receive funds from St. David’s Foundation through 2017 to support our recently launched program, CATCH My Breath Youth E-cigarette Prevention Program.
Thanks to this generous support, we will be implementing, measuring and evaluating the program free of annual subscription to middle schools in the following Central Texas counties: Bastrop, Caldwell, Hays, Travis and Williamson.
CATCH Global Foundation Executive Director, Duncan Van Dusen said: “Youth E-cigarette use has escalated into a public health emergency. Through the development of the CATCH My Breath program, we aim to address the lack of prevention resources targeting this problem, and work with communities to educate their middle schoolers about the dangers of these products. We appreciate the vision of the St. David’s Foundation in providing us an Opportunity Grant to help make Central Texas a community of excellence in protecting children from the harm of E-cigarettes.”
As well, check out a few words Earl Maxwell, CEO of St. David’s Foundation, recently said about this exciting announcement: “The goal of these new Opportunity Grants is to invest in innovative, collaborative and creative solutions to some of the healthcare challenges facing our community. The Foundation is delighted to partner with these respected local nonprofits to explore ways to address emerging healthcare needs here at home in Central Texas.”
