As Surgeon General Joycelyn Elders noted, “You can’t educate a child who isn’t healthy, and you can’t keep a child healthy who isn’t educated.” Health and success in school and beyond are connected, especially for young children. Positive nutrition, physical activity, and sun protection experiences in early childhood are the foundation for developing and practicing healthy behaviors which lead to better health, academic and social outcomes for children as they grow. In this session, learn best practice strategies and experience fun classroom activities designed to engage children in healthy eating, physical activity, and sun safety behaviors. Discover simple ways to integrate positive health messages into classroom routines and explore nutrition education and physical literacy activities that will keep young children on-task, having fun and on the path to a lifetime of health.
