1. Body+Mind+Heart: Create Space for Social Emotional Learning in PE Class

Moving with others is inherently a social experience making PE the perfect setting to learn and practice social emotional skills as evidenced by National PE standard #4. This session will provide teachers with a lens to recognize opportunities to foster social emotional learning in a developmentally appropriate way. Practical, real-world strategies for developing social emotional competency through PE activities and behavior management systems will be presented as well.
2. Implementing CATCH at Schools and Alignment With the WSCC Model

CATCH promotes physical activity and healthy food choices in preschool through middle school aged children and their families. CATCH is based on the CDC WSCC model in which health education and the creation of a healthy school environment, and family/community involvement work together. This workshop describes how the Buffalo Public School District implemented the CATCH program over the last few years. The presenters will share successful CATCH physical activities and nutritional lessons.
