Laura Aavang is the Director of Technology & Design at CATCH Global Foundation, overseeing the organization’s digital curricula and web platforms. She applies her 10+ years of experience in web/media/design to create engaging, effective materials that empower educators and promote student wellness worldwide.
Originally from the Chicago area, Laura holds a B.S. in Media and Cinema Studies with a minor in Math/Statistics from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Her passion for educational outreach grew while working for the University of Illinois Extension as a graphic designer and multimedia producer. During this time, she filmed and edited hundreds of educational (horticulture/agriculture/nutrition) videos and worked behind-the-scenes on the set of live PBS gardening television program.
Laura’s creative and technical interests continued to evolve in Austin, Texas, where she freelanced as a graphic designer for the SXSW Film Festival and completed a full-stack web development bootcamp.
Outside of work, Laura enjoys spending time in nature (preferably on a bike or in a hammock) and watching documentaries.
