“Every activity allowed me to gain confidence and feel secure about my performance and also the efforts of my colleagues. This training awakened my interest and motivation.”
– Educator from Bogotá, Colombia

Our CATCH Colombia team continues to expand its reach in training educators on the importance of Whole Child Wellness programs in their school communities in order to create positive cultures of health.

To date for the 2022-2023 school year, our CATCH Colombia team has trained over 460 educators who collectively impact over 15,000 students. Additionally, through our pre-post System for Observing Fitness Instructional Time (SOFIT) results, students have shown a significant increase in moderate-to-vigorous physical activity engagement from 37% to 48%.

Recently, our team trained 26 educators from four schools in the mountainous region of La Calera. Physical education and social-emotional learning curriculum activities were introduced during this training along with best practices on classroom implementation for these educators who are teaching students, ages 4 through 17.

This training was enriching for these educators who have a strong passion for teaching and student well-being. Enjoy our video highlighting their reflections along with visiting our CATCH Colombia page to learn more.

Many thanks to our sponsors and partners at PanAm19 Investments and Larkin Hospital System.

Interested in the SOFIT Results?

The SOFIT tool assesses physical education practices by enabling direct observation and data collection on student activity levels and other class attributes. SOFIT observations were conducted before and after CATCH P.E. implementation training to assess the impact of teacher training on students’ moderate-to-vigorous physical activity (MVPA) engagement. A total of 12 P.E. classes in 5 schools were observed at baseline and 10 P.E. classes in the same 5 schools were observed at follow-up.
