Celebrating Mental Health Awareness Month

Mental Health Awareness Month has been observed in the United States every May since 1949 and originated through Mental Health America. In honor of CATCH’s diverse communities of youth, educators, families, and public health professionals across the globe, we extend our deepest gratitude to our partners for their important efforts focused on whole child wellness.

Research shows that physical and mental health are deeply interconnected, and that healthy lifestyle behaviors such as being physically active, eating a nutritious diet, and avoiding substance misuse helps improve mental well-being.

By integrating healthy behaviors in the classroom, office, home, and community, we are creating opportunities where our well-being can thrive in different environments.

We proudly recognize the profound impact of our CATCH Coordination Kit and Whole Child Leadership Professional Development that fosters school cultures to promote student mental well-being through our holistic Mind-Heart-Body approach. Our initiatives empower educators and students alike to learn, develop, and practice skills for both a healthy body and mind.

While tools and resources are invaluable, we also understand that the journey toward embodying health as a way of life is not a one-size-fits-all approach. It varies from one community to another and from person to person. Embracing health holistically often means adapting to the diverse and individualized needs of a community.

As we reflect on Mental Health Awareness Month, we honor your journey and invite you to watch the video below. Let the lives of the CATCH community inspire you as they share what being healthy looks like to them. As we move forward, let us unite in our dedication to fostering health and shaping a future where everyone flourishes!

Let’s inspire the global CATCH community to take action in prioritizing health in mind, heart, and body. Share a post in your classroom, home, or community emphasizing how you “do” health and tag us using #CATCHJourney!
